“Textalyzer” May Become New Tool in Detecting Distracted Driver Accidents

Description:

In the latest effort to clamp down on the rising number of distracted driving crashes, legislators in New York State are considering equipping police with a “Textalyzer” device which can determine whether or not a phone was texting during an crash. The device could supposedly avoid privacy concerns since it would not have the ability to view or grab any content off people’s phones. Instead, it would simply show whether or not a phone was used for texting during the time of the crash, and could help law enforcement determine the causes of crashes, while simultaneously keep those responsible accountable for their actions.
