Commercial Vehicles
Commercial vehicle crashes affect more than just the commercial vehicle operators. In many cases, a commercial vehicle rollover or spilled load can impact transportation mobility for hours. In commercial vehicle crashes that result in fatalities, 71 percent of the fatalities are occupants of the other vehicle involved in the crash. (http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/Pubs/812150.pdf) In rural areas, commercial vehicle operators face numerous challenges, including mountain passes, tight curves, rural two-lane roads, and severe weather.
This section provides resources and countermeasures for commercial vehicle safety.
