Driver Behavior

Driver behavior describes what the driver chooses to do while driving and should be separated from the driver’s performance (i.e., knowledge, skill, and abilities). Risky driving behaviors contribute to rural road fatalities. Risky driving behaviors include: speeding, distracted driving, drowsy driving, lack of seat belt use, and impaired driving. Some of these issues are also addressed in more detail under a separate heading.

This section provides resources and countermeasures for risky driver behavior.
