Injury Prevention

Because there is a higher risk of injuries and fatalities on rural roads than on their urban counterparts, it is critically important for rural road agencies to implement countermeasures to reduce or prevent injuries. Some key strategies for injury prevention include promoting the use of occupant protection, reducing impaired driving, and implementing graduated licensing for young drivers.
