Intelligent Transportation Systems
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are state-of-the-art technology devices that communicate with both vehicles and infrastructure. ITS deployments benefit road users by creating a connected transportation system that increases safety, improves traveler information, and reduces environmental impact. Many ITS projects have been successfully implemented on rural roads, including detection systems, 511, weather information systems, roadside electronic message signs, and crash warning systems.
This section provides resources and trainings for implementing intelligent transportation systems.
