Speed Enforcement
Reducing speed on rural roadways can have a huge impact on reducing injuries and fatalities from crashes. In a rural area, 30 percent of fatalities result from speed related crashes. (http://www-nrd.nhtsa.dot.gov/Pubs/812050.pdf) Enforcement is the key component of speed reduction efforts.
This section provides guidelines and examples for enhancing speed enforcement practices.
