National Center for Rural Road Safety Announces Inaugural Class

BOZEMAN, MONTANA – 7/25/2024 – The National Center for Rural Road Safety (the Center) is proud to announce its inaugural Road Safety Champion Program (RSCP) graduating class.

The RSCP provides intensive ‘Road Safety 101’ training through web-based modules that cover the core topics of road safety and road safety within the planning and engineering, maintenance and construction, first responders, and public health career pathways.

The graduating class of 13 practitioners recently completed all requirements to receive the nationally recognized RSCP certificate.

“We cannot be more impressed with the success of this program and the level of interest it has received from safety practitioners across various disciplines,” said Jaime Sullivan, director of the Center. “Since earning this certificate, the RSCP Champions are now better equipped to save lives on rural roadways.”

All students in the inaugural class graduated through the planning and engineering career pathway. The graduates (listed by last name in alphabetical order):

  • John Lanigan, Minnesota DOT
  • Salina Markez, Clark County School District
  • Dan McCormick, Hennepin County
  • Doug Ranney, Whatcom County Public Works
  • Christopher Straub, Radnor Professional Firefighters
  • Monica Williamson, South Alabama Regional Planning Commission
