National Summit on Rural Road Safety

Biennially, the National Center for Rural Road Safety holds the National Summit on Rural Road Safety. The Summit is an opportunity for practitioners from State, county, town, and tribal transportation agencies to network and get access to the most relevant resources for their rural road system needs.

Through field trips, office hours with experts, roundtable discussions, customized sessions, Road Safety Champion Program trainings, networking opportunities, and more, attendees dive into the space of rural transportation at its best. The goal is for everyone to leave the Summit with information and contacts that will enhance their approach to safety on their rural road systems.

In 2023, the Summit welcomed Federal Highway Administration Administrator Shailen Bhatt for a fireside chat and a recorded message from the United States Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. This engagement signaled the value of our work at all levels of transportation.

Engineering and planning students are also an asset to the Summit. We welcome them to every realm of the multi-day event and invite them to learn firsthand from transportation subject matter experts.
